Biography
Dr. Magpantay-Monroe is one of the founding faculty for Chaminade University of Honolulu School of Nursing and Health Professions. She is licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) and as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Hawaii. She has practiced in several specialties in nursing including intermediate care, medical/surgical, mental health, community health, home health, utilization management, case management, worker’s compensation, call centers, nursing administration, and nursing education. Her research interests are emotional intelligence, mindfulness, coaching, and psychiatric mental health issues. She is active in her service to students, school and community. Some of these activities include but not limited to: president of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Gamma Psi-at-large chapter, adviser/consultant to the State of Hawaii Student Nurses Association (HISNA); co-adviser to Chaminade’s The Filipino Club (TFC), mentoring students’ to present their creative work at the Na Liko Psi at large chapter, founding member for Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA) Hawaii Chapter. She is a Marianist Education Associate (MEA) for CUH. She is married to Michael Monroe, a retired Chief Warrant Officer of the US Coast Guard. They have one son, Donovan and a terrier mix named Tiana. The family loves to go out and try new restaurants and travel.
