CURRENT STATUS

There are no emergencies at this time.

In an actual emergency, you would be given instructions and updates via the university website, emails, and text messages (if you have signed up to receive emergency text alerts). Current students, faculty, and staff can find instructions on how to register for text alerts on the University SharePoint Portal.

The University Emergency Notification System will be tested on the first business day of each month. Any changes to this testing schedule will be communicated via a campus wide email message.

April 10, 2026

As the state continues to monitor weather conditions and a flood watch remains in effect, with heavy rain and gusty winds expected, Chaminade’s campus will be closed tomorrow, April 10. All campus activities will be canceled or postponed.

We encourage you to stay in touch with your supervisors and professors, be prepared, monitor local news updates, and limit travel due to the potential for flooding and debris on roadways.

We will continue to keep you informed through email, social media, and the university website. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and please stay safe.

To report an emergency, call 911. Contact Campus Security at (808) 735-4792.

Aloha Chaminade Campus Community,

A tsunami warning has been issued for the state of HI. For the safety and well-being of everyone, we are authorizing an early release for all employees effective immediately. Please wrap up any urgent tasks and head home as soon as possible.

You are encouraged to keep yourself updated regarding further developments.

·       If you live, work, play, or transit a low lying coastal area, be familiar with the location of the tsunami evacuation zone. The latest tsunami evacuation maps can be found on the State of Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency page.

·       Always follow the advice of local emergency and law enforcement authorities. In the event of a tsunami, those living in an evacuation zone should leave their homes immediately.

·       If you must evacuate your home, leave in an orderly and calm manner and proceed to the closest tsunami refuge center. A list of tsunami refuge centers is available online.

·       If you are at the beach or near the ocean, and you feel the earth shake, move immediately inland to higher ground. Stay away from rivers and streams that lead to the ocean due to the potential for strong tsunami waves and currents.

Aloha Chaminade community:

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for all Hawaiian islands, from Wednesday evening through Friday morning. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, high winds, and potential flooding could impact our area.

It is important to remain vigilant and prepare as this weather heads our way. You can monitor the weather conditions via the National Weather Service website. We encourage all campus community members to have emergency preparedness plans in place in case of power outages, floods, etc. If you commute to campus, please allow extra time for travel.

All members of the Chaminade community are urged to sign up for campus emergency alert text notifications. See instructions on the Chaminade SharePoint portal for how to opt in on your mobile phone.

Any notifications affecting Chaminade’s campus will be posted on the Emergency Information webpage.
