The Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence K.W. (BoHing Chan) Tseu Center for Nursing Education
The Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence K.W. (BoHing Chan) Tseu Center for Nursing Education includes two eight-bed nursing labs. The labs have two Laerdal VitaSim Simulators to assist in application of concepts taught in courses such as Health Assessment and Complex Disease I, II & III.
The Family & Child Care Nursing course utilizes eight bassinets with Nita Newborns, assisting nursing students to gain confidence with skills that are within that clinical specialty. The learning space has seven laptops on wheels that provide an electronic medical record and critical technology informatics practice.
E.L. Wiegand Simulation Suite
Human Simulation Suite
Chaminade University received funds from the E. L. Wiegand Foundation. Funds were utilized for instrumentation, audio-visual, technical, and computer support for a high-fidelity human simulation suite in the Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence K.W. (BoHing Chan) Tseu Center for Nursing Education.
High-Fidelity Simulators
The E.L. Wiegand Simulation Suite learning space has six high-fidelity simulators. The simulators include CAE/METI iStan, MetiMan, PediaSim and BabySim along with the Gaumard Noelle and Newborn Hal. Simulation is used throughout the nursing curriculum as a teaching pedagogy. Simulation allows the nursing students the opportunity to increase clinical reasoning skills and build confidence in conjunction with their classroom and clinical activities. Use of the facilities has been promoted for community partners of the School of Nursing.
EMS Digital AV System
The capabilities of the state-of-the-art audiovisual system allow several simulations to be run at a single time. The video is captured immediately and used during the essential debriefing process following simulations. The video can be used for performance evaluation, which promotes quality learning and supports accreditation requirements.
