Biography
Denise Cooper is an assistant professor of nursing and holds specialty board certification in Nursing Education and Gerontology. Combining clinical expertise and a passion for teaching, she joined Chaminade University School of Nursing and Health Professions as adjunct professor of nursing in the first clinical rotation during the spring 2011 semester. Joining the faculty full-time in 2013, she strives to collaborate with her colleagues assuring quality educational experiences that prepare the students for a diverse, ever-changing health care environment. Serving as a mentor and advisor she guides students through the learning process expanding their knowledge and skills while growing in confidence.
Supporting the success of her students, Professor Cooper has established the “Cooper Comeback Scholarship” in hopes of improving retention in the nursing program while inspiring the students to excel beyond their own expectations.
Denise cares deeply about the care of older adults and is dedicated to quality nursing care of elders. She believes that educating the next generation of nurses in the specific skills and knowledge necessary to respond professionally and effectively to the needs of an aging population is essential.
