Chaminade University of Honolulu is an eligible post-secondary institution under the Higher Education Act of 1965. As such it participates in all of the major Title IV Federal Student Aid Programs which includes the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, the Federal Work Study program, the Federal Perkins Loan, and the Federal Direct Loan (which includes the Direct Student Loan, the Direct PLUS Loan, and the Direct Grad PLUS Loan). Chaminade also has many institutional forms of student aid. For information on these consult the financial aid section of the Chaminade website. While Chaminade is a private university that does not receive any state or local (city) funding for financial aid purposes, it does participate in the Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP) program (formerly called the Hawaii Student Incentive Grant or HSIG) through a special arrangement with the State Postsecondary Education Commission. LEAP is a program in which Chaminade agrees to match every dollar of federal LEAP funds it receives through the state commission, and is intended for students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and who are Hawaii residents. Students applying for federal student aid with the FAFSA, who meet eligibility criteria, will be awarded available funds.
