Every year during Founders Week, the Rector’s office presents the Founders Award, the Marianist Award, and the Chaminade Award to a Chaminade University student, staff*, and faculty* member who embodies the following characteristics.
Chaminade Award
This award is given to a full-time member of the faculty or a senior leadership member who has been employed at Chaminade for at least three years. A nominee exhibits a continuous commitment to the Characteristics of Marianist Universities. Additionally, a nominee promotes the dignity and rights of all people, accepts others with love and respect, is dedicated to a collaborative and honest search for truth, undertakes the intellectual life as a form of service in the interest of justice and truth, and exhibits the Marian traits of openness, hospitality, graciousness, and faith in a loving God.
Marianist Award
This award is presented to a full-time staff member who has been employed at Chaminade for at least three years. A nominee exhibits a continuous and extraordinary commitment to the Marianist value of family spirit, lives the Marian traits of openness, hospitality, graciousness, and faith in a loving God, draws others into the challenge of building a collaborative community, lovingly accepts others, and has a commitment to the vision and mission of Chaminade University.
Founders’ Award
This award is presented to a member of the student body who has been enrolled at Chaminade for at least two full years. A nominee should manifest generosity, respect for others, and a spirit of faith, be an exemplary role model for the Chaminade Community, exhibit continuous commitment to Marianist values, and be engaged in service to others, especially the poor and the needy.
*Members of the Society of Mary are not eligible.
