History (Minor)

The History minor challenges students to analyze historical events and political developments using a diversity of perspectives, including those that emerge from communities across the Pacific. In this way, students use the tools and methods of modern historians, learning by doing rather than by memorization.

Upon completion of the History minor program, students will demonstrate:

  1. An understanding of historical change, continuity and causality. Students will employ chronology to understand change and continuity, as well as cause and effect, in history. The skills and competencies in this area are developed in all regularly offered history courses.
Pre-Minor Requirements
  • HI 201 America through Civil War
  • HI 202 America since Civil War
Minor Requirements

Twelve semester hours of upper division courses in History (selected in consultation with the program advisor)
