ABIGAIL HURGO

Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management

Hometown: Honolulu, O’ahu, Hawai‘i 🤙🏽

Must-do on O‘ahu: Support local vendors and go to the Kaka‘ako Farmers Market or the Malama Makers Markets. This is the best place to try local food, get fresh produce, and buy from local businesses.

Favorite eating spot and go-to order: I love the mango boba from Thangs French Coffee & Bubble Tea! They use real fruit and it is SOOOO GOOD! Bring cash.

Advice for future Silverswords: Take chances and step outside your comfort zone. Each semester, challenge yourself to do something that scares you. College is shaped not only by what you learn in class but by the people you meet and the opportunities you pursue. Join a club, perform at Pacific Island Review or International Extravaganza, get an on-campus job, start a study group, introduce yourself to your professor, or hang out at the Vi & Loo Center to sing karaoke or play pool with fellow Silverswords!

Hometown: Lahaina, Maui, Hawai‘i 🤙🏽

High School Alma Mater: Lahainaluna High School

Must-do on O‘ahu: Hiking up Koko Head is a must-do hike that you need to do at least once—and talk about it forever! Because once you are at the top it has some stunning views of Hanauma Bay, Diamond Head, and the open Pacific Ocean (but make sure to bring water and sunscreen 😎).

Favorite eating spot and go-to order: Tanioka’s Seafood & Catering, an absolute must! My go-to is a piece of Garlic Chicken, Fish Patty, and Maki Sushi 😋. Pair that with a Green River drink and you cannot leave with a Sweet Potato Haupia Bar…thank me later!

Advice for future Silverswords: College is what you make of it! Hang out after class, talk story with new classmates, join a club on campus, and honestly, some of the best moments you’ll have are those unplanned ones. Whether that be a weekend exploring the island, or finding new and hidden spots on campus. My favorite spot on campus is the basketball and tennis courts; this is where you’ll catch the best sunsets.

Hometown: Ewa Beach, O‘ahu, Hawai‘i 🤙🏽

High School Alma Mater: Hanalani Schools

Must-do on O‘ahu: Watching the sunset from any beach with a take-out plate from L&L Hawaiian Barbecue is a must! My go-to is the kalbi (short ribs) plate with rice, mac salad, and a side of hot fries—simple, local, and unbeatable.

Favorite eating spot and go-to order: Kapi‘olani Coffee Shop—hands down the best oxtail soup, always with two scoops of rice.

Advice for future Silverswords: As someone who started out as a quiet, introverted student, my biggest advice is to not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone—even just a little at a time. Getting involved in student organizations and campus activities helped me find my voice, my community, and my confidence. Along the way, I built lifelong friendships and connected with professors who continue to inspire and support me even after graduation. Your sense of belonging will grow as you show up, take chances, and allow yourself to experience everything Chaminade has to offer.

Hometown: Miliani, O‘ahu, Hawai‘i 🤙🏽

High School Alma Mater: Miliani High School

Must-do on O‘ahu: I highly recommend taking a drive up to the North Shore! While visiting the North Shore, stop by one of the many beaches and getting a quick bite to eat in Hale‘iwa. There are numerous restaurants and local businesses that you can check out.

Favorite eating spot and go-to order: Zippy’s Korean Fried Chicken Plate with an Orange Bang on the side

Advice for future Silverswords: There are so many great events, outings, resources, and opportunities on campus! I recommend making the most of every opportunity, putting yourself out there, and creating as many memories as possible. Your years here as a Silversword will fly by, so enjoy it all!

Hometown: Pearl City, O‘ahu, Hawai‘i 🤙🏽

High School Alma Mater: Moanalua High School

Must-do on O‘ahu: Wake up early, do a hike on the East side, and watch the sunrise from the top of the mountain.

Favorite eating spot and go-to order: Drip Studio (coffee shop) & the Cold Fashioned with Foam + whatever baked goods they have that day!

Advice for future Silverswords: Go all in! College is what you make of it, so go to the events, spend time with friends even if you’re tired, get extra help from your professors when you don’t fully understand something, and make use of the resources on campus. Maximize your college experience because once you graduate, you won’t be in the same place as all your friends with as much free time as you have during this season of life.
