Admission Requirements
Prospective graduate students must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Hold at least a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university in the U.S. or equivalent from a foreign institution
- Be proficient in English
We accept applications from all U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, immigrants and international applicants. International students must have a visa status that allows academic study at Chaminade University. This can include temporary U.S. visas such as F-1 student visas, J-1 exchange visitors, H-1 temporary worker, dependent visas or any other non-immigrant classifications.
In addition to regular admission requirements, international applicants who native language is not English must submit either:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), minimum score on the TOEFL –IBT is 79. ().
- Ilets, minimum score is 6.5
- PTE, minimum score is 53
- Apply for an evaluation of post-secondary transcripts from the following organization: National Association of Credential Evaluation Services
Financial Resources
Provide a statement from a banking association of available financial resources to cover tuition, room and board, books and other expenses while attending school.
Health Insurance
Health insurance that is accepted by U.S. providers is required for international students.
Students must submit proof of a clear TB 9 (tuberculin) test or chest x-ray, given and read less than one year prior to the start of the school semester. TB tests or chest x-rays are required by law by the State of Hawaii. International students must submit a chest x-ray. The x-ray may be taken in their country of citizenship.

International Applicants
All visa-related requirements are handled by the Office of Admissions (808) 739-8340. This office issues I-20 Forms, required for obtaining an f-1/J-1 student visa in the student’s country of citizenship (to be done before arrival in the U.S.). At registration, students must provide a copy of the I-94 form (white card attached to passport) and the I-20 ID form issued at the port of entry. To maintain student visa status while in the U.S., international students must:
- Hold a valid passport
- Attend the school they’ve been authorized to attend
- Carry a full course load (6 graduate credits)
- Apply for extension(s) if necessary
- Receive authorization before accepting employment
- Report any address change(s) immediately
Graduate Program Requirements
General Requirements
- Submit application and application fee ($50)*
- Submit official transcripts
*Application fee may be paid online via credit or debit card, or submit a check made out to Chaminade University
Students must demonstrate completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university by submitting official transcripts from all previously attended institutions.
- Option 1: Request that the transcript is sent directly to Chaminade University from the institution
- Option 2: Submit official student copy to Chaminade University in a sealed envelope from the institution
- Option 3: Institutions that utilize secured electronic transcript services, such as eScrip-Safe, may email the transcript access information to graduate@chaminade.edu
Chaminade University transcripts will be sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the Records Office.
Writing Sample
- Topic: “Why do you want to pursue a master’s program at this point in your life?”
- Word Count: 200–300 words
Answer the following essay questions (each response should be between 250–500 words).
- Describe how your work experience has prepared you for future graduate study in the MBA program.
- Describe in detail the long-range career goals you have at this time relative to the MBA program.
MBA students are expected to:
- Be computer literate
- Have graduate-level writing skills
- Have college-algebra level math skills
Typically, students should also have:
- An undergraduate G.P.A. above 3.0
- Minimum of two years of relevant full-time work experience
Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores, letters of reference and interviews are not standard requirements for the MBA program, but applicants may include this information along with the required application materials to augment their application. Applicants who do not meet the minimum admission standards may be asked, at the discretion of the MBA Program, to supply additional application materials such as GMAT scores and letters of recommendation.

Letters of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation forms will be sent to you by our Graduate Admissions Counselor after your MPT application has been submitted. To submit a letter of recommendation:
- Option 1: Recommender may send the recommendation letter directly to the Office of Admissions
- Option 2: Applicant may submit a recommendation letter to the Office of Admissions in a sealed envelope with the recommender’s signature across the seal
Interview
Upon receipt of the completed graduate application file, all applicants will participate in a formal interview with a member of the MSCP faculty. If deemed necessary, a second interview with the Program Director and/or another MSCP faculty member may be required. If the completed graduate application file is not received in a timely manner, this will delay the interview process, thus delaying the applicant’s possible entry into the program.
