Military Students

Chaminade University has been supporting the educational goals of service members and dependents since 1967. We offer classes on-base at several Oahu military bases and online classes, available every ten-weeks starting in January, April, July and October. Classes on-base are open to military personnel, their family members and civilians.

Tuition Rates and Fees

The following service members are eligible for a discounted military tuition rate:
• All valid military ID card holders (Active Duty, DoD Civilian, Family Member, National Guard, Reservist and Retired)
• Veterans and dependents using Tuition Assistance or Veteran’s Affairs Educational Benefits

Tuition rates, effective July 1, 2020.
Classes are typically 3 credits.  Full-time constitutes enrollment of at least 9 credits per term.

Cost per Credit-Hour
  • Active Duty, National Guard, and Reservist Military Rate: $250 per credit hour
  • Non-Active Duty Military Rate: $435 per credit hour
  • Standard Tuition Rate: $565 per credit hour
3-Credit Course Total
  • Active Duty, National Guard, and Reservist Military Rate: $750
  • Non-Active Duty Military Rate: $1,305
  • Standard Tuition Rate: $1,695
Additional Fees
  • Online technology fee: $93 per class
  • Hybrid technology fee: $40 per class
  • Education Observation & Participation fee: $55
  • Science Lab (for ground courses): $60
  • Graduation Fee (single degree): $215

  • MAT tuition: $825 per credit hour
  • MBA tuition: $1,065 per credit hour
  • MEd tuition: $825 per credit hour
  • MPT tuition: $1,030 per credit hour
  • MSCJA tuition: $1,030 per credit hour
  • MSCP tuition: $1,030 per credit hour
Additional Fees
  • Online Fee: $93 per course
  • Hybrid Fee: $40 per course

In order to receive one of the discounts offered to Chaminade University active duty and non-active duty military members, documentation is required for verification of service or affiliation. Annual re-verification is required for all students, except those that were previously verified with military status of Veteran, Discharged or Retired. Students must complete one of the following options to verify their military status.

Option 1: Show military ID in-person to an academic advisor. Copies of Military ID’s are not allowed, it is a violation of the Title 18, U.S. Code Part I, Chapter 33, Section 701 and punishable by fine and imprisonment.
Option 2: Submit corresponding required documents to an academic advisor, either electronically or in-person.

Military Documents for Active Duty, National Guard or Reserve
  • DA Form 669 within last 3 months
  • LES within last 3 months
  • Reenlistment Contract
  • Military transcript within last 3 months (JST or CCAF)
  • Military Orders within last 12 months
  • Memorandum/Statement of Service signed by Command Representative or Veterans Affairs
Military Documents for Veterans, Discharged or Retired
  • Military transcript (JST, CCAF, AARTS, or SMART)
  • DD-214 or NGB-22 (Include Character of Service)
  • Orders concerning discharge/retirement
  • Veterans Affairs Benefits Certificate of Eligibility
  • Letter from Veterans Affairs containing: Dates of Service, Branch of Service, Character of Service, on official letterhead, dated and signed by Veterans Affairs official (manager/director)
Military Documents for DoD Civilian Employees
  • DoD LES within last 3 months
  • SF50 – Notification of Personnel Action within last 3 months
Military Documents for Military Dependents*

One of the above listed military documents for Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, Veteran, Discharged, or Retired sponsor; and Copy of Marriage Certificate (spouse) or Birth Certificate (child)

*DoD Civilian Employee dependents are not eligible to receive a military tuition rate

Tuition Assistance

Tuition Assistance for Army can only be issued through the GoArmyEd website. Contact your Army Education Counselor or Education Center if you have questions or concerns.

Eligible Active Duty students enlisted in the Navy, Marines or Air Force may request Tuition Assistance (TA) through their respective education center. Once you have received tuition assistance, submit your TA voucher to your Chaminade advisor as payment for course registration. Your advisor will register you for your chosen courses. Financial Aid

If applying for financial aid, your award offer will be determined by your enrollment status, level of financial need and fund availability.  Please visit our Financial Aid website for more information about eligibility, the financial aid process, cost of attendance and more.

Filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will establish your eligibility to qualify for federal financial aid and institutional scholarships. Your FAFSA should be filed each year between October 1 and March 1.

Upon receipt of your FAFSA filing, the Office of Financial Aid will prepare your financial aid award. If you have any questions about your award please visit the Understanding Your Award page for additional details. When you determine which aid you would like to accept, please do so using WebAdvisor or by contacting the Office of Financial Aid.

The Office of Financial Aid is not able to release your aid until you have accepted the award amount you intend to use. Students must accept their awards each year.

WebAdvisor Instructions
  1. Go to the Student Portal
  2. Enter username. For first time login, your seven-digit Chaminade student ID number
  3. Enter your password. For first time login, your default password is the last four digits of social security number or your birthdate (MMDDYY)
  4. Go to the WebAdvisor panel (right side page), click Financial Aid dropdown menu, then click Accept or reject my financial aid awards

Tuition Payment

Chaminade University has made available to its students a monthly tuition payment plan. You can enroll in the payment plan through WebAdvisor. For more information, visit Tuition and Billing or contact the Business Office: (808) 735-4768.

You can view your tuition account balance and make payments through the Chaminade Portal.

  1. Log in to the Chaminade Portal
  2. Go to the WebAdvisor menu (right side of the page), select Financial Information, then click Account Summary
  3. If you have an account balance, click Pay on My Account and follow the payment instructions.

Requesting Military Base Access

If enrolled at multiple sites, you are required to obtain a pass for each site. When on military bases, you’re required to conform to base rules and regulations.

Note: In accordance with the REAL ID Act of 2005, individuals with drivers’ licenses from Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico and Washington are required to provide an additional form of identification in order to obtain a base pass for all military bases in Hawaii.

If you’re a non-military student wishing to attend Chaminade University classes held on military bases, you are welcome on a space-available basis and is subject to a background check and approval from Base Authority in the form of a pass for each base. Please register at least 14 days prior to the start of the term and contact the appropriate office site to submit a pass request.

Requesting a Pass

Contact Chaminade Pearl Harbor/Hickam base coordinator with the following information to request a pass:

  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Place of Birth
  • Driver’s License Number and State of Issue
  • Citizenship Status
Pass Pick-up*

An email confirmation will be sent once the pass is approved and ready for pick up at the Pass & ID Office. The following documents must be presented when picking up a pass:

  • Valid, government-issued photo ID
  • Current Vehicle Registration**
  • Safety Inspection**
  • Insurance Card**

*All listed documents must be presented at time of pass pick-up. All documents must be current
**Documents must be in the vehicle at all times while on base for random security police checks

Requesting a Pass

Contact Chaminade Schofield Barracks base coordinator with the following information to request a pass:

  • Full Name
  • Chaminade student ID number
Pass Pick-up*

You will be notified via email when the pass has been submitted. Pass is issued at Leilehua Golf Course. Please call the golf course at (808) 655-1620 prior to picking up pass to confirm it will be ready. The following documents must be presented when picking up a pass:

  • Valid, government-issued photo ID
  • Current Vehicle Registration**
  • Safety Inspection**
  • Insurance Card**
