First-Year Admission Requirements

At Chaminade University, we take a holistic approach and look at all our applicants as a whole person. We want to better understand who you are, and the strengths you might bring to the Chaminade community.

Below are the requirements for our first-year applicants. Note that requirements are different for nursing and non-nursing majors. If you are a transfer student, please visit the requirements here.

All undergraduate first-year applicants should have or will have earned a high school diploma or the equivalent.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

  • High school transcript(s) reflecting grades 9-12. Senior year (Grade 12) can show courses in-progress. 
    • 4 years of English
    • 3 years of Social Studies
    • 3 years of Mathematics
    • 2 years of Science
    • 4 years of College Preparatory Electives
  • 2.50 or above Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
    • GPA requirement for nursing majors is different; see below
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores – If English is not your first language
    • TOEFL – Minimum score on the TOEFL–IBT is 79
    • IELTS- Minimum score of 6.5
    • PTE – Minimum score of 53
    • Duolingo – minimum score of 95

**Requirements for homeschooled students or those who obtained a high school diploma equivalent (GED), please view here.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

  • Application fee: $50.00 (waivers accepted) 
  • Official high school transcript(s) sent directly to the Office of Admissions 
    • Note: A final high school transcript showing the completion of senior year and verification of graduation, will be required if admitted into the university. 
    • Transcripts can be sent:

  • Official college transcripts (if applicable) – For high school students who are enrolled in dual enrollment/early college programs. Qualified coursework can be evaluated for credit.

  • Optional Documents
    • Test scores (ACT and/or SAT)*
    • Letter(s) of recommendation 
    • Personal Essay
    • Resume 

Applicants will be notified if additional documentation may be required at the request of the Office of Admissions.

Application Deadlines

  • Fall Term: Priority: December 1 Final: April 15
  • Spring Term: Spring Term: Priority: October 1 Final: December 1

*Open application periods are different for nursing majors, see below.

Notification Deadline

We will notify applicants of their admission decision on a rolling basis.

Tuition Deposit Deadline

  • Fall Term: Admitted students are encourage to deposit by June 1
  • Spring Term: Admitted students are encourage to deposit by December 22

Traditional Nursing Checklist

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

  • High school transcript(s) reflecting grades 9-12. Senior year (Grade 12) can show courses in-progress. 
    • 4 years of English
    • 3 years of Social Studies
    • 3 years of Mathematics
    • 2 years of Science
    • 4 years of College Preparatory Electives
  • Earned a grade of “C” or better in the following high school courses— Specific to Nursing majors
    • Algebra II
    • Chemistry
    • Biology
  • 2.75 Cumulative GPA or above –> GPA requirement is specific to Nursing majors
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores – If English is not your first language
    • PTE – Minimum score of 53
    • Duolingo – minimum score of 95
    • TOEFL – Minimum score on the TOEFL–IBT is 79.
    • IELTS- Minimum score of 6.5

Applications for the traditional BSN are only accepted for the fall term.

Application Deadlines

Fall: Priority: December 1  Final: April 15

Spring: N/A Traditional nursing applications are not open for spring terms.

Decision notification date

Rolling, until spaces are filled. If spaces are full, traditional nursing apps will be put on a waitlist.

Tuition deposit deadline

Students offered admission to the BSN are encouraged to submit their $200 enrollment deposit as soon as they receive their admissions decision, in order to confirm their space in the cohort.
