Jun Funahashi is a multimedia artist based in Hawai‘i, originally from Tokyo, Japan.
After high school, Funahashi moved to NYC as a multidisciplinary artist, exhibiting her work and collaborating with major publications including Vogue and Elle magazine. She studied BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and holds a Master’s degree from Kyoto University of the Arts.
Funahashi relocated to Honolulu in 2020, finding healing and inspiration in Hawai‘i’s natural environment. This transition deepened her environmental awareness and significantly influenced her creative practice. She honors the islands’ rich landscape by incorporating locally sourced materials into her work.
Most recently, she discovered a type of native clay suitable for pottery and continues to explore the creative and material possibilities of working with indigenous clay, pushing the boundaries of her ceramic and sculpture practice.
