EARTHQUAKES occur without warning.
If you are:
- Indoors: cover your head and neck; if nearby, get under a desk, sturdy table, or supported doorway; away from windows. Hold on until shaking stops.
- Outdoors: stay or move to an open area, away from structures. Do not enter damaged buildings. Beware of fires, downed power lines, and/or aftershocks.
- Driving: STOP! Pull to the side of the road, away from structures and utility lines. Stay in your vehicle.
Note: A local strong earthquake may cause a tsunami.
