From the smallest particles to the forces shaping our world, physics challenges you to ask how and why things work. A Physics minor gives you a deeper understanding of the physical world while strengthening your skills in problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, analysis, and scientific thinking.

Explore concepts in mechanics, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics, and modern physics while gaining a foundation that complements majors across the sciences, mathematics, engineering, health, and technology.

Upon completion of the Physics minor, students will be able to:

  1. Apply quantitative reasoning and appropriate mathematics to describe phenomena in the natural world.
  2. Interpret multiple scientific representations, including verbal descriptions, diagrams, graphs, formulas, and translate between them.
  3. Apply physics principles to understand living systems, scientific instrumentation, and everyday experiences.

  • MA 210 Calculus I
  • MA 211 Calculus II
  • PHY 251 University Physics I
  • PHY 252 University Physics II

Minor Requirements

  • MA 311 Calculus III
  • MA 401 Linear Algebra
  • Six (6) credit hours of PHy 300–400 level courses
