The Education minor gives students from any major the opportunity to explore the field of education and discover what it takes to become a teacher. Whether you’ve always dreamed of leading a classroom or are curious about teaching as a career, this minor can help you take the first step.

4+1 Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Pathway

The 4+1 MAT Pathway gives Chaminade undergraduate students who minor in Education a streamlined route from a bachelor’s degree to a Master of Arts in Teaching. Complete your MAT in just one year instead of two—and take the next step toward your career as an educator.

Upon completion of the Education Minor, students will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge of learner development, learner differences, diverse students and the learning environment to optimize learning for Elementary students.
  2. Adapt learning activities for individual differences and the needs of diverse learners while maintaining safe, positive, caring, and inclusive learning environments.
  3. Analyze the history, values, commitments, and ethics of the teaching profession within the school community.
