What if you could combine your passion for history, literature, art, philosophy, or culture with the tools shaping how we understand and share information today? The Digital Humanities certificate helps you do just that.

Open to students in any major, this certificate builds critical thinking, digital literacy, research, and communication skills through innovative approaches to the humanities. You’ll explore digital storytelling, web design and publishing, data and information management, geospatial analysis, digitization, and computational research methods.

Learn to use technology not just to understand ideas, but to create, connect, and reach audiences far beyond the classroom.

Upon completion of the Digital Humanities certificate, students will be able to:

  1. Define and explain Digital Humanities as an academic field that integrates methodologies from a variety of disciplines including humanities, arts, social sciences, data science, and design. 
  2. Explain and synthesize complex issues and debates in Digital Humanities such as information literacy, ethical technology use, permissions and copyrights, digitization, preservation, sustainability, and audience.  
  3. Articulate and demonstrate critical thinking in developing ethical responses to problems created by and/or inherent in digital technologies.
  4. Deploy and demonstrate skills in analyzing and creating written, oral, and visual texts in a number of digital formats.
