Diep Vuong

Diep Vuong OHPAUR

Originally from Vietnam, Ms. Diep Vuong transferred to Chaminade University from the University of California Los Angeles and graduated from Chaminade in 2011 with a 4.0 G.P.A. and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  In recognition of her academic achievement and dedication to research, she was the recipient of the “Henry Clark President Sue Wesselkamper Prize.”  Under the direction of Dr. Michael Dohm of Chaminade University, Diep researched “The Effects of Ozone on Global Methylation Patterns in Type 2-Like Alveolar Lung Cells,” and later presented her research at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in poster format.  Diep also actively participated in many extracurricular activities on campus including the Hogan Entrepreneurial Program, the Biology Club, and the Delta Epsilon Iota club, while also working as a Biology Laboratory Assistant, AAP Tutor, and Orientation Leader.  Outside of the University, Diep volunteered extensively at the local, national, and international levels.  On the island of Oahu, she volunteered at the Queen’s Medical Center in the Emergency Room, and while she lived in California, she volunteered at the UCLA Medical Center and the Vietnamese Community Health Center.  In 2009, she spent a summer in Nicaragua as a medical assistant with “Global Medical Training.”  In Fall 2012 Ms. Diep Vuong entered the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine.
