Digital Humanities (Minor)

Broaden your perspective of the past, present and future with a minor in Digital Humanities.

Our Digital Humanities minor curriculum is designed to be transformative and hands-on, welcoming students from all majors to use technological tools and critical thinking skills to re-imagine how history, literature, philosophy, political science, fine and performing arts and more are communicated.

This minor allows you to approach Humanities in a new way, using web design and publishing, information management, crowdsourcing, and other methods to reach the community in new ways.

Upon completion of the Digital Humanities minor, students will be able to:

  1. Define and explain Digital Humanities as an academic field that integrates methodologies from a variety of disciplines including humanities, arts, social sciences, data science, and design.
  2. Explain and synthesize complex issues and debates in Digital Humanities such as information literacy, ethical technology use, permissions and copyrights, digitization, preservation, sustainability, and audience.
  3. Articulate and demonstrate critical thinking in developing ethical responses to problems created by and/or inherent in digital technologies.
  4. Deploy and demonstrate skills in analyzing and creating written, oral, and visual texts in a number of digital formats.
