How It Works

The Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship provides an award that adjusts your tuition cost, after institutional aid, to meet the in-state undergraduate tuition at Hawaii’s public flagship university
Hawaii Guarantee is renewable for three years
Students must apply and be accepted to Chaminade University
Students must submit their FAFSA

The Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship is aligned with the resident tuition at Hawaii’s state university. If that rate increases, Chaminade will adjust the scholarship to reflect the change.

The Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship is awarded after your institutional aid is applied and once you’ve completed and submitted the FAFSA.

We encourage all students to meet with a Financial Aid counselor to discuss how their federal aid may apply and to explore additional scholarship opportunities.

Yes, the Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship is awarded after institutional aid and guarantees that your tuition will meet the published in-state, resident undergraduate tuition cost.

However, to be eligible, all new students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine if they are eligible for other financial aid like grants, work-study and loans by April 1, 2025.

Yes. Students are encouraged to apply for any additional scholarship opportunities.

Note that the Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship is awarded after institutional aid given by Chaminade.

The VA will not pay more than the annual cap for the fiscal year as it relates to your benefit award type, amount of months, and your benefit level determines the amount of funding you will receive.

Example: Chap 33 benefit at the 100% rate for 36 months will have full tuition covered for the fiscal year not to exceed the annual cap. However Chap 33 benefit at the 70% for 18 months will only have 70% of the annual cap available to them for the fiscal year-a-for a set 18 months.

If you are accepted into Chaminade as a first-time freshmen and choose to defer, your award package will not count and your aid will be recalculated for the following semester.

Official deferments must be approved by the Office of Admissions.

The Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship covers up to four years of undergraduate study. If you need additional time to graduate, tuition beyond the four-year period will be charged at Chaminade’s current published rate.

The Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship is applicable to all majors except for Nursing. If you decide to change your major, we encourage you to work with your academic advisor and put together your academic plan to stay on track to graduate in four years.

No. The Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship covers tuition annually, only for the fall and spring terms.

Pell Grants can still be used/applied in addition to the Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship.

Transfer students are not eligible for the Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship.

The Hawaii Guarantee is only for Hawaii high school graduates.

Students must be continuously enrolled for consecutive semesters to receive the Hawaii Guarantee. If a student takes a break in enrollment without an official leave of absence, the student can return to Chaminade but will need to pay Chaminade’s posted regular tuition rate.

No. The Hawaii Guarantee is only for first-time degree-seeking students. Non-degree students are not eligible.

The Hawaii Guarantee Scholarship does not apply to the online Flex program. It is only for first-time freshmen entering the day undergraduate program.

This opportunity is for first-time freshmen, day undergraduate students entering in the fall. Current students are not eligible.
