Biography

Dr. Hawkins joined Chaminade University in 2018 as an Assistant Professor. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Fellow, and an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Dr. Hawkins’ conducts research on intercultural couple dynamics, transnational and families of color experiences, parent-child attachment in moderating the effects of trauma, financial literacy delivery methods with different populations, and other factors in therapeutic client care, in addition to democratic learning communities in academic instruction. Dr. Hawkins was the recipient of the AAMFT Minority Fellowship in 2013 and the Women’s Philanthropic Leadership Circle award in 2015.
