Am I a transfer student? It may seem like a simple question, but not every student who has attended another university is classified as a transfer student when he or she enrolls at Chaminade University of Honolulu.
- Have you graduated from high school?
- Prior to enrolling at Chaminade University of Honolulu, will you have attempted at least 16 or more college credits (100 level or higher) following graduation from high school?
If you’ve answered yes to these questions, you’re a transfer student. If you have answered no to any of these questions, please apply as a first-year student.
All students at Chaminade are automatically considered for institutional merit-based scholarships and can be renewed as long as they meet eligibility requirements. Students filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be considered for federal award programs as well as for need-based institutional grants.

Transitioning Aid
The amount of federal financial aid you are eligible for is based on the current academic year. There are just a few things to do in order to transition and receive financial aid at Chaminade.
If you received financial aid from a previous institution during the same academic year, you will want to contact your financial aid counselor at Chaminade University to determine the amount of funds you will be eligible to receive while attending Chaminade.
You will also need to add the school code for Chaminade, 001605, to your existing FAFSA and re-submit.
In order to receive federal direct loans while attending Chaminade, we ask that you complete another entrance interview at studentaid.gov/entrance-counseling.
Financial Aid Limits
Have a lot of credits? Federal financial aid is limited to a maximum aggregate amount that the government is willing to provide you during the time you take to complete an undergraduate degree. If you have been attending school for a considerable amount of time and have now decided to transfer to Chaminade, you may want to contact your financial aid counselor to verify the remaining funds you are entitled to receive.
