Jarrett Middle School

During-school programs

  • From mid-day until the closing bell, help is needed in grade-level support classes. Work one-on-one with kids who need extra help in various subjects. You will be in a classroom setting, with teachers providing support.

After-school programs

  • “Uplink” teachers provide an hour of after-school help for students. You can assist by working with students to help foster their understanding of the teachers’ lessons.
  • The Kulia All-Stars program after-school incorporates homework/tutoring time with fun “module” electives before and afterward. The modules include art education, physical agility/strength activities at the gym, music, and more.
  • Help is especially needed from 3:15–4:15 PM, Monday through Friday, except on Wednesdays, when 2:40–3:40 PM is the target time. Schedules are posted below.
  • Good performance in service-learning at Jarrett could lead to paid positions at the school.

Faculty note:

Special projects could include planning and executing workshops /educational fairs & projects, helping w/ outreach to parents, assessment projects, professional development with teachers. In the past, we have successfully run programs to teach math and money through playing monopoly; and to teach critical thinking, etc. through CLUE!
