The Institute of Human Services provides respite for those who are unsheltered and offers solutions that transform the lives of people who are homeless and at-risk.
IHS After-School Activities are designed to help K-12 students with homework and/or facilitate other activities that meet the needs of each individual.
12 hours minimum per semester and a three-month commitment (at least) are required.
IHS After-School Activities
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Wednesdays: 1:30pm – 4:00pm.
Shifts can be arranged during these time frames.
AS WE ENTER THE THIRD WEEK IN THE TERM, IHS REPORTS THAT MOST SHIFTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN FILLED. THERE IS A CHANCE THAT WEDNESDAYS ARE STILL AVAILABLE.
10 – 14 kids usually participate each day. Although this is a K-12 program, most are elementary students.
After being accepted through an application process, training takes place before your first hours of service begin. Trainings will generally occur between 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on weekdays (beginning 1:30 Wed). Scheduling is done on an individual basis. View training details.

Alternative Activities – Mikiʻala Program:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. If taking part in this program, please focus on assisting Parents & Children Together (PACT) and The Institute for Human Services (IHS) with activities that support the redevelopment of the entire family unit. Help to facilitate learning between parents and children, and foster a connection between family members. You may also be asked to help with the set-up & break-down of a tent, games, and other materials in Aʻala Park
