Aliiolani Elementary School

**This site is currently closed, except to special projects**

Aliiolani Elementary has an after-school computer-based program, and the school can use a lot of assistance for struggling keiki.

  • Each child works individually on a computer at his/her own pace. However, when they have difficulty, they need individual assistance.
  • Through service-learning, we can provide one-on-one support and mentoring, as well as help on the math problems that challenge the keiki.

Location

1240 7th Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816

Responsibilities

Volunteers will tutor children in math using a computer (mostly grades 3-5) on an individual basis.

Availability

After school hours during the spring semester only.

Hours

After school hours during the spring semester only. 10 hours of service (seven tutoring days) is the minimum per semester.

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 2:45–4:15 PM

Students must sign up for desired tutoring days online. Aliʻiolani Elementary’s on-site supervisor will create an online calendar with the available days; each day will have a particular number of slots available. Access is given to you at your on-site orientation; there is a limited time to sign-up.

If all slots on one day are filled, please choose another day.

Training Location

Aliʻiolani classroom F-101 (Mrs. Yokoyama’s room)

Enter the Aliʻiolani parking lot on 6th Avenue (near Waialae Ave.) and park anywhere in the two lots there. You will see a two-story building right next to the parking lot, with red doors.  F-101 is the first classroom on the bottom floor of that building. Enter through the red doors.
