Welcome! This is a resource guide for newly admitted and current online undergraduate students at Chaminade University who are ready to start taking courses.

Getting Started

Tuition Assistance for Army can only be issued through the GoArmyEd website. Contact your Army Education Counselor or Education Center if you have questions or concerns.

The State of Hawaii Department of Health requires that all students meet immunization and tuberculosis examination/risk assessment required before attending any post-secondary school in Hawaii, this includes online and our military base sites.

Chaminade University of Honolulu requires students’ health information in case of emergency or epidemic circumstances. The Chaminade University Counseling Center will have access to this information. Only distance learning students who are 100% online, do not reside on the island of Oahu, and will never step foot on any Chaminade University premises, include our military base sites, are exempt from this policy.

Please complete the Student Health Form and submit it no later than the first day of instruction. Failure to meet all university health requirements may result in a hold placed on your student account through the Office of the Dean of Students.

The Chaminade email account is one of the official means of communication with students, faculty and staff. Important information from the university and your faculty will be sent to your student email account.

Log into your Chaminade Student Email (Chaminade uses Gmail for email accounts)

  1. Go to gmail.com
  2. Enter your username: Firstname.Lastname@student.chaminade.edu (ex: John.Doe@student.chaminade.edu)
  3. Enter your password: CUH followed by your student 7 digit CID number (ex: CUH1234567)
  4. Click Sign In

Forwarding Chaminade Emails
If you wish to forward your Chaminade email account to your personal email account, follow the steps below. But, please note that in some situations, you may be required to send emails from your Chaminade email.

  1. Log into your Chaminade Gmail account
  2. Click on gear icon (top right corner), then select Settings from drop-down menu
  3. Select Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab
  4. Click Add a forwarding address” button
  5. Enter your personal email address in popup window
  6. Click Next (a confirmation email will be sent to your personal email)
  7. Log into your personal email account, find the confirmation email and click confirmation link

From the Chaminade Portal, you can manage your student account information, check financial aid award, register for courses and more.

Log in to Your Portal
Have your seven-digit CUH student ID number ready.

  1. Go to the Student Portal (bookmark this page)
  2. Enter username: your seven-digit Chaminade student ID number
  3. Enter your password: your default password is the CHAMINADE + last four digits of social security number or CHAMINADE + your birthdate (MMDDYY).  For example: CHAMINADE1234 or CHAMINADE120101 (if your date of birth is December 1, 2001)
  4. Go to the WebAdvisor panel on the right side of the page to view the online resources and services available to you

NOTE: You may change your password after logging in

Using the Portal
These are some things WebAdvisor can do for you:

  • View and/or change account information
  • View financial information (check your balance and make payments)
  • View financial aid (check financial aid package and request student loans)
  • Course registration (search for classes and add/drop classes)
  • Academic planning (view program evaluation)
  • View your academic profile (grades, GPA, class schedule)
  • Communications (contact your advisor)

Before Registering for Classes

  1. Review your Program Evaluation (Chaminade Portal > WebAdvisor menu > Academic Profile > Program Evaluation) to see courses required to complete your degree
  2. Check the term schedule for dates, times and locations of the courses
  3. Contact your advisor if you have any questions

Registering through the Chaminade Portal
Military students who are not receiving Tuition Assistance or Veterans Benefits register for courses through the Portal. 

  1. Log into the Chaminade Portal
  2. Go to the WebAdvisor for Students (right side of the page)
  3. Select the Registration dropdown menu, then select Register for Classes*
  4. Select the term, subject and course number of the class

*Evening and online students can only register for courses ending in -2.Example: BU 200-90-2 or PH 101-60-2.

Military Students: Registering with Tuition Assistance or Veterans Benefits
Note: service members receiving Tuition Assistance (TA) or Veterans Benefits will differ, depending on your branch of service. Below are registration instructions for members of the Army, Navy and Marines and Veterans. If you have any questions, contact your base advisor.

Army: active and reservist Army students receiving TA must register through GoArmyEd.

Navy and Marines: if receiving TA, active and reservist Navy and Marine students must submit a TA voucher to their advisor each term. After the TA voucher has been submitted, the advisor will register students for the requested classes. For more information, visit the Navy College Program website.

Veterans: students using VA benefits must complete the required certification forms each term. For more information, visit our Veterans Affairs Educational Benefits page.

View your current and past classes, meeting times and meeting locations through the Chaminade Portal. Follow the instructions or watch the video tutorial to view your current and past class schedules.

  1. Log into the Chaminade Portal
  2. Go to the WebAdvisor for Students (right side of the page)
  3. Select the Academic Profile dropdown menu, then select My Class Schedule*
  4. Go to the Term menu and select the term you want to view, then click Submit

Prepare for Classes

Canvas

Canvas is Chaminade’s online class platform. Students taking online or on-campus courses with online components will likely need to use Canvas to access their course materials. Not all faculty members use Canvas, so be sure to check your Chaminade email, as your professor may have sent special instructions on what online resources the class will use throughout the term. If you do not see your courses in Canvas, keep in mind that courses do not appear until the weekend before the term begins.

Follow the instructions below to get started with Canvas:

  1. Go to chaminade.instructure.com
  2. Enter your username: your seven-digit CUH ID number
  3. Enter your password: same as your Chaminade Portal password
  4. Click “Profile” then “Settings” to set up your profile

Once you’ve logged in, view the Student Orientation Course to learn how to use the system. Click Help and search the Canvas Guides for additional information.

If you have forgotten your portal password, click the “I forgot my ID” link and follow the prompts to reset your password.  Note: You may need to wait 24 hours after resetting your password to re-attempt logging on.

Other

Your faculty member may prefer to use other software applications, such as the Google Apps suite, to manage course materials. Consult your course syllabus or contact your instructor for more information.

  1. Log into the Chaminade Portal
  2. Go to the Bookmarks (right side of the page)
  3. Select the Syllabus Repository
  4. Click Search for a Syllabus on the left-hand menu

You can purchase textbooks through the Chaminade online bookstore or by visiting our on-campus bookstore.

Purchasing Textbooks with VA Benefits

For students using VA benefits, contact the Business Office to obtain your voucher before shopping at the bookstore.

Purchasing Textbooks with Book Vouchers

For all financial aid, you can now authorize your web vouchers online. When authorizing your voucher, please note that used textbooks may NOT be available, so we advise authorizing the amount for a new textbook in addition to all applicable sales tax. For any questions, please contact the Business Office at (808) 735-4768.

Order Textbooks via Chaminade Online Bookstore
  1. Go to the Chaminade online bookstore
  2. Select Textbooks from the top menu, then click Find Textbooks
  3. Select Term, Department, Course and Section, then click Find Materials
  4. Select the materials needed and then proceed to Checkout

Your Program Evaluation is the best tool to help you track your degree progress. It contains information about your cumulative GPA, courses you’ve completed, courses you still need to complete and your earned credits. It’s important to review your Program Evaluation every term.

View your Program Evaluation

  1. Log in to your Chaminade Portal
  2. Go to the WebAdvisor menu, then select Academic Profile
  3. Click Program Evaluation

Computer Help Desk
Contact the Help Desk with technology-related questions or issues.

Health Requirements and Services
Learn about Chaminade health services, student insurance, and other health-related resources.

Sullivan Family Library
The Sullivan Family Library offers students a number of services and resources, including access to online databases, the Hawaii Collection and more.

Academic Calendar
View important online undergraduate and graduate program dates and deadlines.

Academic Catalogs
View degree requirements, program course descriptions and other university resources for the current academic year.

Course Schedules
View current program course schedules for online and on-base classes.

Graduation Clearance
If you’re planning on graduating, learn more about information about graduating and preparing for commencement.

Records Office
The Records Office and Office of the Registrar provides records and registration services, including forms, policies, student schedules and transfer guides.

Tutoring and Smarthinking
Students may receive on-the-ground tutoring or online tutoring.

Career Services
Career Services works with students to explore their career options through partnerships with academic departments, agencies and employers.

Counseling
You are able to receive confidential, individual or couples counseling, provided at the Chaminade Counseling Center.

Student ID Card
To take advantage of services available on-campus, Chaminade students needs to have a student ID.

Computer Lab
The computer lab, located on the second floor of Sullivan Family Library, has Mac and Windows computers available for use, as well as print services.

Dining on Campus
A variety of dining options are available on the Chaminade campus.

Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry provides opportunities for students to nurture their spiritual growth.

Parking
Learn about Chaminade’s parking policy and submit an application for a parking permit.

Security
Chaminade University and Securitas have partnered to provide 24-hour security and safety services on campus.
