Dr. Rhoberta Haley has served as the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions since 2019. She is an experienced nurse, family nurse practitioner, nursing educator, and academic administrator who has taught at all levels of nursing education as well as serving as a Director, Dean, Chief Academic Officer, and Campus President.
Her research and clinical practice focus on the nursing needs of under resourced patients and their families including those who are unhoused in both rural and urban environments, frail elderly patients, and those experiencing significant disease burden who can benefit from palliative care and hospice care. She has also studied the diffusion of innovations into clinical practice, moral dilemmas in clinical practice, and the use of technology in healthcare.
In nursing education, she has emphasized content and experiences related to social disparities of health and barriers to access and utilization of healthcare. Creating opportunities for nursing student success at all levels of nursing education is a passion and she has served as a preceptor for over 300 nurse practitioner students.
Palliative care access and care delivery as well as insurance coverage and compensation to providers has been a major focus since 2019 while serving as one of the leaders of a statewide initiative to provide insurance coverage to Medicare/Medicaid patients.
Dr. Haley serves as a nursing program consultant, research abstract reviewer, professional journal article reviewer, faculty tenure process reviewer, and mentor to new nursing school deans.
