SOCIOLOGY (MINOR)

Slider

Social institutions and functions are all around us—so much so that we sometimes neglect to consider their significant roles in our lives. The Sociology minor offers students opportunities to better inspect and understand society, considering such constructs as class, gender and race—and societal groups like the family.

Sociology (Minor)

Upon completion of the Sociology minor, students will be able to:

  1. Identify some of the key concepts, principles, and overarching themes in sociology.
  2. Apply the scientific method and critical thinking to evaluate sociological research.
  3. Exhibit effective writing skills within the context of the field of sociology.
Pre-Minor Requirements
  • SO 200 Introductory Sociology
  • AN 200 Cultural Anthropology
Minor Requirements
  • 12 semester hours of upper division Sociology courses
