Campus Life FAQs

Can I still come to campus?
Yes. Please adhere to Honolulu City and County’s reopening strategy guidelines.

Will I still need to purchase a parking permit?
Parking permits are available for purchase 1 week prior to in-person classes resuming on campus. You may contact the Business Office at (808) 735-4711 or [email protected] if you have any questions.

Will I still be able to purchase a bus pass?
Yes, you are able to purchase a Student U-pass. Payment can be made online or in person at the Business office. Once paid, you will need to pick up your pass at the Business office, Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Will I have access to buildings on campus during the day?
Yes, students will have access to student services on campus, the library, the Business Office, Kokua Ike, and other campus support while we are learning online. You can contact the Advising Office at (808) 735-4815 or [email protected] for more information.

In what format/structure will courses be delivered?
Starting January 31, 2022, courses that are scheduled to be in person will be delivered in person. You can contact the Advising Office at (808) 735-4815 or [email protected] for more information.

How can I order books and other course materials?
Online orders can be placed through the Campus Store online and can be picked up at the student’s convenience for those that are on Oahu. You can reach the Campus Store at (808) 735-4798 or email [email protected] to schedule a one-on-one appointment, or to get assistance with placing an online order. You are still welcome to stop by anytime between 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri but may have to wait outside as we will be limited by covid occupancy restrictions.

How can I access library resources?
Library resources, including articles, some books and other media, are available online. You can access these materials by using your student ID and password. You can access these materials at the Chaminade library website. You can contact the librarians at [email protected] or (808) 735-4725 for more information.

Will tutoring and support still be available?
Yes. Kokua Ike: Center for Student Learning will remain open and operating. Students can access TutorMe online tutoring through the link in their Canvas courses. Peer & Professional tutors will also be available for both in-person and virtual tutoring sessions. The Center will still be available as a site to administer tests that are pre-arranged. Can I still use academic accommodations related to a disability or medical condition?
Yes, these accommodations are available to you regardless of your learning modality (face to face or online). Please contact the Kokua Ike Coordinator at (808) 739-8305 or [email protected] for more information.

What if I have a new medical issue or disability
Students with special needs who meet the criteria for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provisions must provide written documentation of the need for accommodations from Kokua Ike by the end of week three of the class in order for instructors to plan accordingly. If a student would like to determine if they meet the criteria for accommodations, they should contact the Kokua Ike Coordinator at (808) 739-8305 or [email protected] for further information.

What is the best way to contact my professors?
The best way to contact your professor is via email. You can also call their office phone, they will be checking messages regularly. You can contact the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at [email protected] or (808) 739-7469 for more information.

What if my questions or concerns don’t get addressed?
If your faculty member does not answer your questions or concerns, please contact the Office of Advising & Career Development. They will help ensure that you get your questions and/or concerns addressed. You can contact the Advising Office at (808) 735-4815 or [email protected].

What if I need to see my academic advisor?
Academic & Career Development will remain open and operating. Academic Advisors are available for in-person and virtual meetings. Faculty Advisors will also remain available. We recommend that you communicate with your faculty advisor directly about the best method to contact them. You can contact the Advising Office at (808) 735-4815 or [email protected].

Will my financial aid be affected?
No, your financial aid will not be affected by online learning. If you have any specific questions about aid, please contact Financial Aid at (808) 735-4780 or [email protected].

How can I pay my tuition and bills if I am not on campus?
You can pay your tuition and bills through the portal. Please check your Chaminade email account for an E-Bill from the Business  Office. You can also find more detailed information here or by contacting the Business Office directly at (808) 735-4768 or (808) 739-4634.

I (or my family) have lost income as a result of COVID-19, what resources are available to help with tuition or just make ends meet?
Please connect with Financial Aid to determine whether there are any additional resources that might help meet your financial needs during this semester or the academic year. You can reach them at (808) 735-4780 or [email protected].

I receive military benefits. Will remote teaching affect my benefits?
As long as the course you are registered for is listed as a face-to-face one (days and times listed), a move to online delivery due to COVID-19 will not impact your military benefits. Please contact the Registrar’s Office at (808) 735-4780 or [email protected] for more information.

Will the residence halls remain open
The Chaminade Residence Halls are open during the academic year. You may contact Residence Life staff at (808) 739-4648 or [email protected] for more information.

Will visitors be allowed in the residence halls?
For the continued health and safety of our residential community, visitors will not be allowed into the residence halls. You may contact Residence Life staff at (808) 739-4648 or [email protected] for more information.

Will food service be available?
Food service will be available in the Silversword Cafe, P.O.D., and Wiki Express Cart (in front of the Sullivan Family Library) with safety modifications. During this time, self-service options (i.e. salad bar, hot/cold food bar, etc.) will be discontinued to ensure the safety of our campus community. Pre-packaged options will be available for some food choices and Aramark Dining staff will continue to serve hot meals in the Silversword Cafe. You will need to wear a mask when entering any dining location and follow social distancing protocol. In-person capacity will be limited in both indoor locations (Aramark will provide further information at each location). Will mail operations still continue if I’m living on campus?
Yes. Mail operations will continue so you can continue to receive packages from Amazon, your family, or anyone else who might regularly send you packages or mail. You may contact the Mailroom staff at (808) 735-4799 for more information.

Can my family visit on campus?
Yes, your family may visit campus. They will need to follow all safety protocols. We encourage families to use our outdoor spaces to meet with residents.

Will athletic practices still be taking place?
NCAA regulations will guide much of what we are able to do. Please reach out to the Athletic Director, Dr. Tom Buning or the Compliance Officer, Devon Bukoski for further information at (808) 735-4790.
