Reporting an Incident
Report to the University
Any member of the Chaminade community (employees, students, volunteers, and guests) who believes that he or she has witnessed or has been the victim of sex discrimination or gender based violence, sexual misconduct, harassment, or some other form of discrimination prohibited by the University’s Title IX / Nondiscrimination policy and wishes to make a complaint, may contact the Director of Student Conduct & Title IX.. The University encourages you to talk to somebody about what happened so that you can get support and the University can respond appropriately. Should you decide to report an incident, you can use the Campus Incident Report Form or contact the Office of Title IX by emailing [email protected], or calling (808) 440-8475. Please note that contacting the Title IX Coordinator and/or the Office of Title IX will put the university on notice; the Office of Title IX and the Title IX Coordinator are NOT confidential resources though information is kept private. Additionally, any information shared with other campus employees obligates those employees to report the information to the Title IX Coordinator. Employees of the University are mandated reporters and obligated to share knowledge, notice, and/or reports of harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation with the Title IX Coordinator.
If you do NOT want to put the University on notice of a Title IX related incident, consider contacting a campus-based confidential resource (see below) for options, referrals, advocacy, and safety planning in a confidential manner. Chaminade University has campus and off campus, local resources available to those who have experienced sexual harassment, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Below is a list of some of the resources available.
Reporting to Local Law Enforcement:
Please be aware that a criminal investigation is separate and distinct from Chaminade University’s institutional response. In addition to reporting to the University, you can also report conduct that may violate criminal law to local law enforcement such as the Honolulu Police Department. These options are available simultaneously, and Chaminade University will cooperate with law enforcement agencies if a criminal investigation occurs.
Reporting to Campus Safety:
Campus Security Services
Chaminade University Campus Safety and Security provides protection and security on campus 24 hours a day/7 days a week, throughout the year. The Campus Security patrol is responsible for enforcing university rules and regulations and its duties include responding to safety concerns, detecting fires, detaining trespassers, preventing theft and vandalism, and investigating reports of suspicious persons and incidents. Also, upon a reasonable request, officers will provide an escort service from dusk to dawn for students and employees.
