B.A. International Studies: International Business
Today, the marketplace is truly global.
That’s why there’s no better time to consider a degree in International Studies with a concentration on International Trade. Our International Studies program is offered through a partnership between the School of Business and Communication, which offers the International Business concentration, and the School of Humanities, Arts and Design (International Relations).
In International Business, students examine the world through a business lens, with a focus on globalization and global commerce, the political economy, and historical and foundational structures that have helped mold trade relationships through today.
Our International Business program offers a multi-disciplinary approach, giving students vital principles they’ll need to not only understand the world of international business, but engage in it. And our students benefit from Hawaii’s unique location at the crossroads of the Pacific, where the economic climate is influenced not only by the United States, but the giants of Asia.
Perhaps most importantly, our program is built around the student; faculty mentors seek out ways to individualize learning and offer opportunities for growth outside the classroom. We are especially proud of our Study Abroad and Hogan Entrepreneurs programs, both of which not only build students’ knowledge of international trade, but of what it takes to be a leader.
Experiential Learning Opportunities
Hogan Entrepreneurial Program pairs students with business leaders in a mentor-mentee relationship. Weekly meetings afford students the opportunity to develop personal experiences with established entrepreneurs. Note: The Hogan Entrepreneurial Program is available to all majors.
Study Abroad Program provides access to a plethora of countries, enabling you to expand upon your understanding of the international market place first hand.
Faculty
Our faculty members are leaders in their fields. They believe in the power of personal experience—stressing mentorship, collaboration and project-based learning inside and outside the classroom.
