Edna is one of the founding faculty for Chaminade University of Honolulu School of Nursing. She is licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) and as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Hawaii. She has been a nurse for about 30 years, with formal teaching experience at least 25 years, and has practiced in several areas of nursing including intermediate care, medical/surgical, mental health, community health, home health, utilization management, case management, worker’s compensation, call centers, nursing administration, and nursing education. Her research interests are emotional intelligence, mindfulness, coaching, and psychiatric mental health issues. She is active in her service to students, school and community. Some of these activities include but not limited to: president of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Gamma Psi-at-large chapter, adviser/consultant to the State of Hawaii Student Nurses Association (HISNA); co-adviser to Chaminade’s The Filipino Club (TFC), mentoring students’ to present their creative work at the Na Liko Psi at large chapter, founding member for Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA) Hawaii Chapter. She is a Marianist Education Associate (MEA) for CUH. She has been married 23 years to Michael Monroe, a retired Chief Warrant Officer of the US Coast Guard. They have a 15-year-old son Donovan and a 3-year-old terrier mix named Tiana. The family loves to go out and try new restaurants and travel.
