Welcome to your OSP team, we strive to provide the highest quality research administration at all stages of the grant lifecycle. We are here to help you distill your ideas into a fundable application to realize your dream projects. 

Granting activities can be divided into four main stages, two of which are pre-award and two that are post-award. The pre-award process starts with the writing of all of the pieces of your project application. This will often mean that you might need help from the office of finance for your budget, from our grant writing/editing team and also perhaps from our sub-contracts, sub-awards and student internship specialists. There are so many moving parts to a good grant application and we are here to help you with them all. Once the grant is submitted and if you have a wonderful application and have some luck you will win an award. If this happens we will help you navigate the award negotiation phase. This will entail making sure that all parties are familiar with the funding regulations and requirements and that the University is ready to accept the award and act as its custodian on your behalf. All awards are given to the university to manage regardless of who the Principal investigator (PI) is.

Now you have your award, you enter post-award territory. We will do our best to help ensure that the PI remains in compliance but the ultimate responsibility for running the grant always falls to the PI. We recognize that every grant and funder are unique, and therefore we will follow a tailored approach to ensure the success of your granting activities. We will be there to help you to keep on track by working with you to develop a timeline of administration and investigator activities that are complementary to your goals. We will also help you with your interim reporting responsibilities, both financial and grant progress. When the duration of the grant funding period is complete you will enter the final phase of granting, where we will help you ‘close’ out your grant. This will typically mean submitting the final grant reports and outcomes to the funder. We hope that even though this grant cycle is complete that we have already started working with you to leverage your hard won data from this grant, into the next.
