WASC Accreditation

Since February 1960, Chaminade University has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the nationally recognized agency for accreditation of post-secondary institutions in its area of the United States. The current accreditation report by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges may be reviewed during business hours in the Sullivan Family Library.

Program Accreditations

Behavioral Sciences Division

Accreditation for the Master of Counseling Psychology, School Counseling Program
The Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, School Counseling program is accredited under the Teacher Education Accreditation Counseling (TEAC) Quality Principles, which is now served by the single specialized accreditation system for educator preparation in the United States, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Education Division

Accreditation for Early Childhood Education
Chaminade University has received specialized accreditation for its early childhood education programs by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) and affiliated by the American Montessori Society (AMS). The education programs in the following degrees are accredited by MACTE and affiliated by AMS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with Montessori Credential
  • Master of Education in Early Childhood Education with Montessori Credential
  • Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education Montessori/PK-K

Accreditation for the Teacher Preparation Programs
The teacher preparation programs at Chaminade University are accredited under the Teacher Education Accreditation Counseling (TEAC) Quality Principles, which is now served by the single specialized accreditation system for educator preparation in the United States, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Humanities and Fine Arts Division

Accreditation for Environmental + Interior Design
The Environmental + Interior Design program (EID) is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), the body that oversees and evaluates academic standards for baccalaureate institutions.

School of Nursing

Accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Accreditation for the School of Business and Communication
Chaminade University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), located in Lenexa, Kansas, USA. The business programs in the following degrees are accredited by the IACBE:
